With so many different types of structures in the marketplace, how do you know that the marquee you hire will be safe for use during the Winter period when snow is a possibility?
Generally, gazebo’s and party marquees will NOT be designed, manufactured, and calculated to withstand any wind or snow loads. Therefore, these marquees are NOT suitable for hire or for use during the Winter months.
Any reputable professional marquee hire company or marquee manufacturer will fully understand the safety implications of any structure.
Relocatable structures have a snow load capacity of 10kg per square meter, with a wind load capacity of 102 km/h.
If snow is a possibility the structure must be heated in order to maintain a minimum temperature of 12ºC to prevent build-up of snow on the roof.
If heating is not provided, arrangements must be made for the roofs to be kept clear of snow to prevent excess weight, which in turn could cause the collapse of the structure.
Removal can be mechanical, by use of brushes from the outside or pushing from inside, but it is important to check the area where the snow will land is free of people and other obstructions.
Valleys between marquees and buildings or adjacent marquees can be a particular problem when snow builds up and clients should be made aware of the danger and the need to remove excess.
